It's been almost three years since the first time we looked at Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and this time we're doing it right! We're revisiting the classic with a three-part look at the classic filmed adaptations, and the some of the more out-there adaptations, too!
In this episode—Part Three of Three—we look at six non-traditional theatrical remakes of Jane Austen's classic romance:
- Bridget Jones's Diary (Miramax, 2001), directed by Sharon Maguire, written by Richard Curtis, Andrew Davies, and Helen Fielding, and starring Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth.
- Pride & Prejudice: A Latter-Day Comedy (Excel Entertainment Group, 2003), directed by Andrew Black, written by Anne Black, Jason Faller, and Katherine Swigert, and starring Kam Heskin and Orlando Seale.
- Bride & Prejudice (Miramax, 2004), directed by Gurinder Chadha, written by Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges, and starring Aishwarya Rai and Martin Henderson.
- The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (Pemberley Digital, 2012–2013), created by Hank Green and Bernie Su, directed by Su and Margaret Dunlap, and starring Ashley Clements and Daniel Vincent Gordh.
- Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Lionsgate, 2016), written and directed by Burr Steers, and starring Lily James and Sam Riley. Based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith.
- Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta (Lifetime, 2019), directed by Rhonda Baraka, written by Tracy McMillan, and starring Tiffany Hines and Juan Antonio.
